What is the dress code for Mahakaleshwar Temple?

General Darshan: Men should wear a Dhoti-Kurta or Kurta-Pyjama. Women are advised to wear a Saree or Salwar-Kameez with a dupatta. Western casuals like shorts and sleeveless tops are restricted.

Bhasma Aarti (Strict): Men must wear an unstitched cotton Dhoti without any upper garment (no shirts or vests). Women may participate in the Aarti hall in a Saree, but they are requested not to wear flowers or heavy ornaments.

How do I book Bhasma Aarti tickets?

Online: Advance booking opens 15 days prior at 08:00 AM on the official website (shrimahakaleshwar.com). Slots fill up in minutes, so keep trying every 20 minutes if you miss the first release.

Offline: Limited tickets are available a day before the Aarti at the temple's counter between 10:00 AM and 03:00 PM (subject to availability). Carry an original Aadhar Card for verification.

Are mobile phones allowed inside the temple?

Strict No: Carrying mobile phones into the Mahakaleshwar Temple premises is strictly prohibited for security and sanctity reasons.

Locker Facility: You must deposit your phones at the designated mobile counters (Manasrovar Bhavan or Avantika Gate) before entering.

Note: Photography is strictly banned inside the main complex, but allowed in the outer Mahakal Lok Corridor.

What are the boat timings at Omkareshwar?

Operating Hours: Boats across the Narmada River generally operate from 06:00 AM to 06:00 PM.

Duration: The crossing to the island takes about 5–10 minutes. Public ferries are very frequent, but early morning dips in the Narmada are recommended before the rush begins.
