Spiritual & Scenic Highlights
Shri Kedarnath Temple Nestled at an altitude of 3,583 meters against the majestic backdrop of snow-capped peaks, this 8th-century stone temple is one of the twelve sacred Jyotirlingas. It is where Lord Shiva is worshipped in his hump form (Sadashiva), representing a site of immense penance and divine liberation.

Ganga Aarti (Har Ki Pauri & Rishikesh) Experience the ethereal evening ritual where massive brass lamps are lit and Vedic hymns are chanted on the banks of the sacred Ganges. At Haridwar, it symbolizes a vibrant offering to the river, while at Rishikesh, the experience is profoundly serene, often occurring at the peaceful Parmarth Niketan.

Devprayag Confluence The celestial point where the emerald waters of the Alaknanda meet the turquoise Bhagirathi, taking the unified name "Ganga" from here onward. It is considered one of the five holiest confluences (Panch Prayag) and marks the literal origin of the holy Ganges.

Guptkashi & Rishikesh Suspensions Guptkashi, the "Hidden Varanasi," is home to ancient Vishwanath and Ardhnareshwar temples, while Rishikesh offers the iconic walks across Lakshman Jhula and Ram Jhula, suspension bridges that provide panoramic views of the turquoise river and temple-dotted hills.

Yes: Every pilgrim must register for the Char Dham Yatra before starting their journey.

Process: You can register online at the official portal (registrationandtouristcare.uk.gov.in) or via the Tourist Care Uttarakhand mobile app.

QR Code: Upon successful registration, you will receive a QR code, which is mandatory for temple entry and verification at various check-posts.

Are there any age or health restrictions?

Age Limit: There is no official "cap," but it is generally recommended for those aged 7 to 75 years.

Health Check-up: A fitness certificate is mandatory for pilgrims above 50 years (or those with heart/respiratory issues). Facilities are available at Phata and Gaurikund for check-ups, but it is best to consult your local doctor before leaving Bangalore.

How long does the 16km trek take?

Timing: The trek from Gaurikund to Kedarnath usually takes 6 to 8 hours for fit individuals.

Facilities: The route is well-marked with many stalls for drinking water, snacks, and basic restrooms. Ponies and palkis (palanquins) are available at the base camp for those who cannot walk.

How do I book helicopter tickets?

Official Booking: Helicopter services are strictly managed via the IRCTC portal (heliyatra.irctc.co.in).

Availability: Slots open roughly 2-3 months before the season. Due to high demand, they often fill up within minutes, so early booking is critical. Char Dham registration is required before you can book a flight.

What essential items should I pack?

Clothing: Heavy woolens, a thermal inner set, waterproof windcheaters, and a raincoat/poncho (weather is unpredictable).

Footwear: Sturdy, waterproof trekking shoes with a good grip (essential for steep/wet terrain).

Medical Kit: Carry altitude sickness tablets (like Diamox, after consulting a doctor), pain relief sprays, ORS, and motion sickness tablets.

Are ATMs available at Kedarnath?

There are very limited ATMs at the top, and they frequently run out of cash. Carry sufficient cash (small denominations) from Haridwar or Rishikesh for pony charges, small snacks, and temple offerings.
