Spiritual & Architectural Highlights
Lumbini (Birthplace of Lord Buddha) Explore the UNESCO World Heritage site where Siddhartha Gautama was born in 623 BC. Visit the Maya Devi Temple, the sacred Puskarini Pond where the Queen bathed before childbirth, and the historic Ashoka Pillar, erected in 249 BC to commemorate the divine site.

Pashupatinath Temple (Kathmandu) Revered as the patron deity of Nepal, this holiest Shiva temple features a rare four-faced (Mukha Linga) idol representing the five cosmic aspects of Shiva. Pilgrims consider a darshan here as the culmination of the 12 Jyotirlinga circuit, believed to rid them of all karmic sins.

Manakamana Temple (Wish-Fulfilling Goddess) Experience Nepal's first commercial cable car ride to this hilltop shrine dedicated to Goddess Bhagwati. Perched 1,300 meters above sea level, it is a vital stop for devotees seeking the fulfillment of their deepest wishes amidst stunning panoramic views of the river valleys.

Budha Neelkanth (Sleeping Vishnu) Witness the largest stone-carved statue of Lord Vishnu in Nepal, reclining peacefully on a bed of serpents in a cosmic pond. This 5th-century masterpiece is an artistic and spiritual wonder located at the foot of the Shivapuri hills.

Swayambhunath (The Monkey Temple) Visit this ancient religious complex atop a hill, where Hindu shrines and Buddhist stupas coexist in harmony. It offers a spectacular bird's-eye view of the entire Kathmandu Valley and is guarded by resident "holy" monkeys.

Frequently asked questions

What documents do I need to cross the Nepal border?

For Adults: You must carry either an Original Indian Passport or an Original Voter ID Card issued by the Election Commission of India.

For Children (under 18): A School/College ID Card or a Birth Certificate (along with an adult’s ID) is required.

Important: Aadhaar Cards, PAN cards, and Driving Licenses are not considered valid travel documents for entry into Nepal (though sometimes accepted for infants/senior citizens, carrying a passport/Voter ID is safer for hassle-free entry).

Can I use Indian Rupees in Nepal?

Acceptance: Yes, Indian currency is widely accepted in most tourist areas (Pokhara, Kathmandu, and the border).

Restriction: You can only use notes of ₹100 or below (₹10, ₹20, ₹50, ₹100).

Illegal Notes: Carrying or using Indian currency notes of ₹200, ₹500, or ₹2000 is strictly illegal in Nepal and can lead to confiscation or fines.

Recommendation: Exchange some INR to Nepalese Rupees (NPR) at the border (Sunauli) for smaller expenses, as the local rate is fixed (approx. ₹1 INR = 1.60 NPR).

What is the dress code for Pashupatinath Temple?

Modesty: Both men and women must dress modestly. Long pants/trousers and sleeves are recommended.

Prohibited: Shorts, sleeveless tops, and short skirts are not allowed inside the main temple area.

Hindus Only: Only Hindus are allowed inside the main Pashupatinath temple sanctum. Non-Hindus can view the temple from across the Bagmati river.

Footwear: You must remove your shoes before entering the temple courtyards. Leather goods (belts, wallets, bags) are sometimes restricted in specific areas.

How does the border crossing at Sunauli/Gorakhpur work?

Process: Your cab will stop at the border to register with the Indian and Nepalese immigration/customs.

Permit for Vehicle: If you are in a private taxi, the driver handles the 'Bhansar' (daily vehicle permit). Ensure you carry your physical ID for any spot verification by border police.

Timing: The Sunauli border is typically open 24 hours for people, but vehicle movement may close after 10:00 PM.

Will my Indian SIM card work in Nepal?

Roaming: Most Indian SIMs work on international roaming (check with your provider for specific Nepal packs).

Local SIM: It is much cheaper to buy a local SIM (Ncell or Nepal Telecom) at the border or in Kathmandu. You only need a photocopy of your ID and a passport-sized photo.

Tap Water: It is not advisable to drink tap water. Always use sealed bottled mineral water, which is easily available in all hotels and shops during the tour.
